Fundraiser for KRFY at Di Luna’s on May 5

On Saturday, May 5, 88.5 KRFY hosted a fundraiser with John Kelley and Friends performing at Di Luna’s. Over forty dinners were served at Di Luna’s before John Kelley took the stage. He played three sets — the first and third set with Bob Crader and the second set with Tom Newbill. The acoustic guitars and vocals of John, Bob, and Tom were a major hit with the nearly full house. KRFY would like to thank John, Bob and Tom for donating their musical talents; Karen and her staff at Di Luna’s; the station’s Events Committee; and all the wonderful members of the community who turned out on Cinco de Mayo for a delightful evening.

Casey Brookings and Suzy Prez welcome folks at they enter Di Luna’s. Notice the list of KRFY underwriters attached to the table.

A “Save Our Schools” town hall was held Sept 12 at the Ponderay Events Center, and was recorded and broadcast by KRFY the following day. A capacity crowd heard discussion by a local panel on the impact on public schools of the Parental Choice Tax Credit, aka House Bill 93, that was approved by the Idaho Legislature to provide $50 million in funding to families who educate their children in private schools.  Did you miss the forum? Click to hear recording.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
